We fundamentally disagree with breed-specific legislation that marginalises and stigmatizes responsible dog owners and their beloved pets. The Stella, our bed and breakfast in Llandudno, North Wales, is designed to welcome ALL dogs, regardless of breed.
"Arrived at the most beautiful @the_stella_llandudno. The owner is massively against BSL and experienced the same battle with her previous dog. We are so grateful to be accepted somewhere with no judgement and welcomed with open arms and love."

THE STELLA'S DOG FRIENDLY ETHOS
It started with a very special dog
MY JOURNEY TO RESTORE THE STELLA WAS ONE OF LUCK, BIG RISKS, SWEAT, TEARS AND LAUGHTER.
IT WAS ALSO A JOURNEY FEULED BY A DOG NAME BUXLEY.
Pups & purpose
Families come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds. For many of us, dogs are more than just pets—they’re soulmates, best friends, and family members. Buxley was this dog for me. She was a constant companion who inspired me to restore The Stella as a welcoming home for all.
As a dog owner seeking B&Bs in Llandudno, Wales, I experienced the challenge of finding truly pet-friendly accommodations. Travelling with Buxley, particularly because of her size, often made me feel judged and excluded from many places. Even when I found a B&B that accepted her, I never felt genuinely welcomed.
Thus, The Stella was born. In early 2023, I embarked on reviving this historic space with tasteful design and all the comforts for both humans and dogs, with Buxley by my side.
Sadly, shortly after starting the renovations, Buxley passed away from an aggressive cancer. What began as a personal quest to overcome the stigma of travelling with MY dog evolved into a commitment to ensure that B&Bs in Llandudno, Wales, are truly welcoming for YOUR dog as well.
Coming soon: dog sitting services at The Stella
We are currently in the process with Conwy Council to become licensed as a pet sitting establishment, so if you're travelling with your dog but would like to catch a show at Venue Cymru or a dinner at a restaurant that doesn't allow dogs, we will soon offer evening dog sitting services to allow you to enjoy such activities during your stay. Stay tuned!
Please note: Per The Stella's pet policy (detailed in full on our FAQs page), dogs may be left unattended in a guest bedroom for a short time, as long as their owner is still onsite. However, dogs cannot be left unattended in guest rooms when their owner leaves The Stella’s premises. The Stella's pet sitting service will thus be to facilitate human guests to enjoy some dog-free Llandudno activities during their stay.
About us
Kristin is the managing founder of The Stella and oversees the day-to-day operations of our B&B in Llandudno. Originally from California, Kristin is proud to now call Llandudno home. The town’s picturesque topography—with its glorious seaside, hills, sweeping promenade, and pier—reminds her of her hometown of Santa Barbara. She has infused The Stella’s design with the upscale yet laid-back sensibilities that are characteristic of Santa Barbara, creating a uniquely inviting atmosphere for our Llandudno B&B. The legacy of her beloved late dog Buxley continues to be a driving force for The Stella's dog welcoming ethos.
